Green Bike Tour
Danube Island, Prater and modern architecture
This tour takes you from Vienna's city center past modern architecture through the Prater over the Reichsbrücke to the Danube Island. Downstream it continues along the Danube into the last large, closed and intact meadow in Central Europe, a paradise for the animal kingdom.
The tour is also suitable for families!
Length/distance: 3 hours, 25 km
We can observe many wild species, some of which have become very rare. Over 100 different species of birds, red deer, beavers, foxes and much more live in this area. On the way there we see some architectural highlights, such as the new WU campus designed by 5 international architects, the 252m high Danube Tower and the Reichsbrücke, the Ferris wheel and the Hundertwasserhaus.
As an alternative to our sightseeing tour through the city center, we have put together this "GREEN" tour, which combines an excursion into nature with modern architecture. On the green tour, we leave the hectic city center behind and cycle through the 2 most popular local recreation areas in Vienna, the Prater and the Danube Island. Along the route we see the Hundertwasserhaus, the Ferris wheel, the new business university as well as the DC Tower and UNO City. On the way back we enjoy a spectacular view of the Danube and the surrounding hills on the Reichsbrücke.
The tour focuses on modern architecture and cycling in a relaxed environment. If you wish, you can also stop for a swim or a refreshing drink on the Danube Island or in the Prater when the weather is nice.
The route offers a balanced mix of sightseeing away from the classic hotspots of the city center and a bike ride into nature.
